Her own experiences as a medical student exposed stigmas in the medical community that keep many students from seeking the help they need to overcome depression. Her book The Dawn: A Med Student’s Roadmap to Finding a Light in Their Darkest Hour, not only encourages physicians to seek professional help, but also walks readers through the signs and symptoms of depression, and describes the tools and healing modalities she has researched and put into practice for herself and others.

The Dawn

After learning about a medical student’s suicide in her own academic community in 2017, Dr. Delicia Haynes decided to break her silence and speak out about overcoming depression as a medical student. After speaking to hundreds of medical students to help them understand their own risk for depression, she wrote The Dawn: A Med Student’s Roadmap to Finding a Light in Their Darkest Hour to share her own story and create a tool that can help medical professionals erase stigmas so they can recognize and treat depression.

Keynote Speeches

Dr. Haynes has appeared at medical schools and conferences around the nation to share her signature talks  and programs “Direct Primary Care Rx for Success, Overcoming Stress and Depression, and Dying on the vine: Suicide and Depression Amongst Physicians.” By speaking to medical students she is able to help break stigmas against seeking help for depression while offering solutions for an integrative and holistic approach to treating depression.
